Police activity week of 09-24-12 through 09-30-12
09-24-12 07:18 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – All other vandalism
100 block Blackburn Ave. – the victim indicated that as a result of neighbor’s dog’s using her lawn as a toilet she installed a “curb your dog” sign on her lawn. After one day the sign disappeared and a large pile of feces was left.
09-24-12 14:15 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan -Theft- $200 & over-from buildings
Unit block W. Baltimore Ave. – Victim reported a theft of jewelry from her apartment that probably occurred sometime in May 2012. The suspect is suspected in several other thefts and is currently incarcerated. The suspect was watching the victim’s cat and had keys to her residence.
09-25-12 06:35 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Burglary-forced entry-residence-night
200 block Wabash Ave. – The victim reported that sometime overnight unknown person/s broke into her home and removed the copper piping in her basement. The basement door was not damaged so it appeared that the deadbolt lock was engaged, the actor/s must have had a key to gain entry. Approximate estimate for the damage is $2,000.00.
09-25-12 11:29 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Theft- $200 & over from building
100 block Ardmore Ave. – the complainant reported that a Stihl demolition saw was stolen from inside the Ardmore Avenue School. Several contractors are working in the school simultaneously.
09-25-12 11:05 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Disorderly conduct
100 block Green Ave. (PWHS) – While at the high school on an unrelated, this officer was called to the principal’s office with a report of a stolen bicycle recovered from a student. Since this student usually rides the bus it was strange to see him show up on a bicycle. The student stated he found it in his yard and decided to ride it to school. The student’s mother stated he doesn’t own a bike other than a beat up blue bike. The brother of the student was called to the office and stated he found the orange Diamond Back Joker BMX style bike behind the Rite Aid. He was advised he would be receiving a citation. He agreed that it was not likely that someone would abandon or discard a bike that was in excellent condition and therefore should have realized he was stealing. Bike returned to police headquarters.
09-25-12 14:00 hours – Sgt. D. Donegan – Assault-other dangerous weapon
100 block Nyack Ave. – As a result of a vandalism investigation it was learned that the victim was hit by a brick or similar object. This investigation will continue.
09-27-12 23:15 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Trespassing of real property
Unit block Fairview Ave. – Two offenders were arrested for trespassing related charges, both men were process and held at the police station to await arraignment.
09-28-12 22:38 hours – Ptl. S. Nick – Driving under the influence
N. Wycombe & E. Essex Aves. – On the above date, this officer observed a driver of a Black Lexus IS250 operating with a 7/12 registration sticker. The vehicle was stopped and the driver informed me that he had been drinking and smoking marijuana. The offender was field tested by Officer Brown and placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
09-30-12 10:09 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Theft- $50 to $20 from auto
Unit block N. Maple Ave. – The victim reports her vehicle had been entered and ransacked, several items were missing from the vehicle. The victim believes that the vehicle may have been unlocked.
