Police activity week of 08-12-13 through 08-18-13

08-12-13 06:35 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – MV theft-auto-shopping center – parking lots
100 block E. Plumstead Ave. – the victim reports his 2003 silver Infinite G#5 taken from the store lot. He left the keys in the ignition and the car running, while he ran inside the store to get an energy drink. The store owner observed a black male jump into the driver seat and drive away. The vim stated the following items were in his vehicle: $600.00, ear phones, wallet with his driver’s license and Temple University ID.


08-12-13 14:53 hours – Ptl. J. McGowan – Criminal mischief
Unit block Windermere Ave. – Dispatched to see code enforcement officer. Upon arrival met with the reporting party. The CEO reported that he had arrived to check on the vacant property and discovered that both the front and rear door was unsecured. The building was checked with police and CEO. This property had a previous burglary incident where copper piping was removed. This incident was damage to the rear door of the property; it appeared to have been kicked in.


08-12-13 18:26 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Fraud-credit cards, atm
Unit block W. Baltimore Ave. – Dispatched to bottom Dollar for a theft attempt discovered. On arrival the victim reported that he was at home when he received a text message from his bank that someone attempted to make a purchase for $138.00 at the Bottom Dollar in Lansdowne and the wrong PIN was entered on his debit card. The victim indicated that he has the one and only card for that account in his possession. The duty manager was contacted and filled out a request for video footage with the store security.


08-12-13 23:30 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Public drunkenness
Unit block N. Highland Ave. – While standing on the ramp to the Lansdowne Fire House talking to fireman, the fireman pointed to the offender and remarked about how intoxicated he was. This officer turned and observed the offender manifestly under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance. The offender was staggering horribly on the sidewalk despite walking right towards a police officer standing next to a marked police vehicle. The offender was stopped and stated he was going to catch the “Broad Street Line” home. Offender had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person, glassy blood shot eyes and was slurring his speech. The offender appeared to be under the influence of alcohol to such a degree that this officer believed he was a danger to himself, especially if he was headed to the train station. Offender was taken into custody and returned to the station. He was issued a citation for public drunkenness and released to his sister.


08-13-13 18:22 hours – Sgt. D. Donegan – Sex offenses-indecent exposure
Unit block E. Baltimore Ave. – Responded to location on report of a male sitting at an outdoor table masturbating. Upon arrival, the offender was observed with his shorts down around his ankles exposing his genitals. The offender was returned to headquarters, processed and held until arraignment.
