Police activity week of 06-20-11 through 06-26-11

06-21-11 04:26 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Burglary-attempt-residence-night
Unit block Sayers Ave. – Police were dispatched for a burglary in progress. Police dispatch advised the actor was a skinny black male wearing dark pants with a white stripe down the side and a white tee shirt, he was observed sitting on the ledge of the window trying to pry it open. The offender was apprehended in the area of the park and transported to police headquarters. Police went to the residence where the offender was observed and the rear screen window was cut open. Spoke to the resident who stated she thought she heard something because her bed is located directly under the window. No entry was gained and nothing was taken.

06-21-11 14:05 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Burglary-attempt-residence-night
Unit block Sayers Ave. – The victim flagged down this officer outside her residence. The victim reported that the screen to her front window had been pushed in at some point between 6-20-11 2000hours & 6-21-11 0730 hours. The victim stated her front window was locked and that no further damage wsa done to the window or the frame. No entry gained. It should be noted that there was an attempted burglary on Sayers Avenue and the offender was apprehended.

06-21-11 19:38 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Criminal mischief to automobiles
Gladstone train station-The victim reported he parked his 2002 Ford Escape on the train station parking at approximately 0800 hours. When he returned to the vehicle at approximately 1730 hours he discovered the right front passenger side window was smashed out and there was a brick inside the vehicle. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.

06-21-11 21:02 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Criminal mischief to automobiles
100 block E. Baltimore Ave. – This officer made contact with the complainant who stated approximately ten girls came up to her house and slashed a friend of the family’s tires. The complainant knew 2 of the girls. Investigation to continue.

06-22-11 02:07 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Drugs-sale/mfg/synthetic narcotics
E. Baltimore Ave. – This officer stopped at Hyundai Elantra which had a previous report of unauthorized use. The 2 offenders were taken into custody after drugs were found visible in the vehicle and an incident to search was completed and numerous drugs and cash were found of the offenders. Both offenders taken into custody and to be charged appropriately.

06-22-11 10:19 hours – Ptl. C. Brown – Disorderly conduct
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – the reporting party stated that he believed the involved party removed food from the activities room which was donated for a picnic next week.

06-24-11 13:00 hours – Sgt. J. Eisenhart – Theft under $50 from buildings
200 block w. Plumstead Ave. – The victim reports the theft of one of her hanging plants valued at $15.00.

06-24-11 13:39 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Disorderly conduct
Unit block S. Union Ave. – The complainant stated that she observed the offender hitting his dog with a shovel in the rear of his home. The complainant made a comment to the offender in regards to why his was hitting his dog. The offender allegedly turned towards the complainant and shouted a racial slur. Police attempted to make contact with the offender with negative results. A citation will be issued on information received from the complainant.

06-24-11 12:50 hours – Sgt. J. Eisenhart- Burglary-no force-residence – night
The victim called the police to report a burglary to his residence that occurred sometime overnight. Missing from the residence is a Sony Play Station 3 and an HDMI cable, controller and three games. The victim stated his front porch is enclosed with a door but that the door was not locked overnight. Items were missing from the front porch.

06-24-11 17:12 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Burglary- no force-residence-unknown time
100 block Nyack Ave. – The victim stated the listed property had been stolen from her residence. The victim believes that the source of access was the front living room window that was left open overnight.

06-24-11 16:50 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Theft- $200 & over- all other
200 block Wabash Ave. – The victim reported to LPD that on 6-23-11 he discovered from his bank statement that an unknown actor/s conducted unauthorized withdrawals from his bank account. Total missing $2,500.00.

06-26-11 19:44 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Assaults-other simple
Scottdale Rd @ Hoffman Park – Police responded to a fight out. The victim stated he and his girlfriend were playing on the basketball court when a group tried to take over the court. The victim states the group assaulted him and his girlfriend. Spoke to the suspect who stated the victim initiated the fight and threw the first punch and he did not know the group that was fighting. Another witness also stated the victim and his girlfriend initiated the fight. Investigation to continue.
