Police activity week of 05-20-13 through 05-26-13

05-20-13 23:09 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Narcotics-possession
Unit block Runnemede Ave. – Police were dispatched for a cardiac arrest possibly from a heroin overdose. The offender was found lying on the living room floor and appeared to be in cardiac arrest.

The offender’s son was performing CPR on the offender. The EMS continued CPR and then administered NARCAN and the offender regained consciousness. The offender admitted to the paramedic that she used a bag of heroin. This statement was made in the presence of this officer. In plain view on a table in the living room was a small clear baggie containing a blue wax paper baggie stamped “Flashback” in red ink. The suspected heroin and other pills were confiscated. The offender was transported to the hospital and this officer will request a summons for her arrest. The controlled substance will be sent to the lab for testing.


05-22-13 09:14 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – MV theft -attempted
Unit block Drexel Ave. – Police responded to a theft of MV in progress. On arrival, observed the victim being choked by the offender. The offender was taken into custody and found to be highly intoxicated.
The victim observed the offender in his vehicle and a scuffle ensued. The juvenile offender was returned to LPD where it was learned he is on probation. A juvenile petition will be prepared.


05-22-13 08:45 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Theft- under $50 from auto
100 block Fairview Ave. – The victim reports items were taken out of his vehicle. The victim states the vehicle was most likely unlocked. The victims’ wallet, containing his PA driver’s license and ATM card was missing.


05-22-13 16:14 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Theft- $200 & over
200 block N. Lansdowne Ave. – The victim reports a 5 carat diamond ring valued at approximately $45,500. missing from her residence. There were several people in the home including one who does have an active warrant out of Philadelphia. The warrant is for burglary and related offenses.


05-22-13 23:49 hours – Sgt. B. Eidell – Robbery-armed-firearm-highway
The Knoll & Scottdale Rd. – Police were dispatched to Hoffman Park for a robbery at gun point that had just occurred. Located the victim who stated he was robbed by three black males, one of which he knew. After some investigation the offender was located and the victim did positively identify the offender and the offender was taken into custody.


05-23-13 21:52 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Theft- $200 & over
100 block E. Plumstead Ave. – Two juveniles taken into custody for theft of a four wheeler. Juvenile petitions will be completed on both.


05-24-13 08:04 hours – Ptl. J. McGowan – Theft- $50 to $200 from auto
200 block Cooper Ave. – The victim reports several items taken from his unlocked vehicle. The items include a Levono Edge laptop, Garmin GPS and a yellow E.M.S. gym bag.


05-24-13 09:33 hours – Ptl. J. McGowan – Theft- $50 to $200 from auto
100 block Midway Ave. – The victim reports unknown person/s entered her locked vehicle and took several items. Missing from vehicle were $100 in cash, her Visa debit card and a pair of Fendi sunglasses.


05-24-13 08:23 hours – Ptl. C. Brown – Burglary-forced entry-residence-night-Arson incendiary devise-residence
Until block E. Albemarle Ave. – Police received a report of a suspicious condition. On arrival the victim stated that a window on the frits floor was now broken and numerous window’s located on the 2nd floor were now open. The property was secured when the victim left the residence. No one was found inside the residence; a strong odor of smoke could be smelled once police entered the 2nd floor. The second floor sustained fire damage to the kitchen area, bedroom closet and the living. The victim was unable to provide an estimate of the cost of the repairs at this time. Sgt. Rutherford was also on location and did obtain several pictures of the residence and the damage. On 5-24-13 at approximately 21:44 hours the offender was arrested and admitted to burglarizing and setting fires to the residence.


05-24-13 14:53 hours – Ptl. L. Albertoli – Theft- $50 to $200 from auto
200 block Jackson Ave. – A report of a theft from MV discovered. On arrival spoke to the victim’s who reported that sometime overnight unknown actor/s entered their vehicle. Missing from the vehicle was a TomTom XXL 535T GPS unit. As the unit was a gift the estimated loss is $150.00. The victim’s were sure that they locked the car, but there were no signs of forced entry.


05-24-13 21:44 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Burglary-forced entry-residence-night
Unit block E. Albemarle Ave. – The police department received a phone call at the police station from the victim who was out of stated. The victim reported that her residence was burglarized twice in the last week and the offender lit several fires inside the residence and that her neighbor just called her and advised that there was a light on in the basement. Police responded to the residence and located the offender in the basement washing his clothes. The offender was taken into custody and did admit to entering the residence twice. While in custody and after being advised of his rights, the offender did sign a statement concerning his involvement in three burglaries at this residence.


05-25-13 04:08 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Drive under influence
S. Union Ave. & e. Baltimore Ave. – Responded for the report of an unconscious female in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. On arrival the offender was observed sleeping in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. The offender was placed in custody and processed.


05-25-13 08:16 hours – Ptl. L. Albertoli – Harassment
Rose Ln. – The reporting party came to LPD with her two foster children. One child had assaulted the other. After thoroughly reviewing the matter, this officer will charge the one with simple assault or harassment.


05-26-13 23:32 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Theft- $200 & over
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – The victim reports he was standing outside of the Wawa store when a black male came up to him and asked him to use his phone. The victim allowed the male to use his phone at which time the male yelled “burnt” at him and ran off with the phone.
