Police activity week of 04-18-11 through 04-24-11

04-18-11 12:03 hours – Ptl. C. Brown – Disorderly conduct
100 block Austin Ave. – the reporting party called police to report an unknown white male in his driveway attempting to flatten a downspout. On arrival the reporting person stated that the male left the area walking east on Austin Avenue toward Union Avenue. The downspout was still located in the reporting party’s driveway and was damaged. The offender was located walking out of Accurate Recycle. The offender was stopped and advised of the reason for the stop. The offender was placed in custody and will be cited for disorderly conduct.


04-18-11 14:45 hours – Ptl. C. Schiazza – Criminal mischief
200 block Congress Ave. – When taking a burglary report the complainant reported that last week he thinks on Friday April 11, he noticed a window broken on the south side of his home. The complainant did not report the incident until today. The complainant that he did no notice anything missing from the home.


04-18-11 14:45 hours – Ptl. C. Schiazza – Burglary-forced entry- residence- unknown time
200 block congress Ave. – The complainant came to police headquarters to report his brother’s home was broken into and a water heater was stolen out of it. This officer responded to the residence and observed a broken window on the door, south side of home. This house is under heavy construction and there is not much in the home other then piping, a refrigerator, stove and washer.


04-18-11 22:46 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Robbery-attempt-firearm-highway
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – Police were dispatched to see the man for a robbery of pedestrian that occurred. This officer responded to view a security video of the incident. While in the store Officer Craig called out with the primary victim and this officer identified a second victim. The victim was approached by a black male who asked for money the victim stated the offender opened his coat to show her a gun. The victim, who was in a vehicle, drove away. The victim did identify the offender on a store video tape.

Sgt. Eidell did relay flash information to dispatch and they reported that an actor matching the description was just shot in Upper Darby. Sgt. Eidell did respond to the scene in Upper Darby and confirmed that their offender and out offender were the same person.


04-18-11 22:45 hours – Sgt. B. Eidell – Robbery-armed-firearm-chain store
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – Received a call to see man in reference to an armed robbery that had occurred at the Wawa store. The victim stated that after exiting the store he was walking toward e. Strattford Avenue when he heard a male voice from behind him saying something about money. The victim did not know the offender. The offender did display a firearm in his right pant pocket. The victim demanded the victim’s bank card. The offender told the victim he had better get along. The victim did id the offender from the store video.

At this point this officer was putting out flash information about the suspect, along with the vehicle when Delcom advised that UDPD had just shot the offender as he attempted to rob a store on W. Chester Pike.


04-19-11 09:20 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Counterfeiting
Unit block W. Baltimore Ave. – the victim reported unauthorized activity on her checking account. The victim noticed, after reviewing her bank statement, an “Automated Check” was used to make a purchase. The victim never authorized use of her account. Investigation to continue.


04-20-11 07:30 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Theft- $200 & over- all other
Unit block W. Baltimore Ave. – Police were dispatched for a report of thefts. The victims stated that they placed tools/material in a large storage shed on 4-19-11. The shed wsa locked with a lock box which contained a key that was also taken. Two stainless steel Master locks that secured the shed where observed on the ground under the shed. Various tools were taken.


04-20-11 09:30 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Unauthorized use of MV
Unit block N. Rigby Ave. – the victim reports she gave permission to a friend to used her car for an errand on 4-19-11 at approximately 2100hrs. As of this date and time the friend has not returned with the vehicle.


04-20-11 12:54 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Assaults
Unit block Windermere Ave. – Police responded to a report of a domestic. Victim states her roommate attacked her inside of their apartment. The offender was taken into custody and will be charged appropriately.


04-20-11 22:02 hours – Sgt. J. Eisenhart – Assault
Unit block S. Maple Ave. – Police responded to report of a physical in progress. On arrival police located the offender yelling and threatening the victim. The offender was taken into custody and will be charged appropriately.


04-22-11 17:08 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Assaults
200 block Crawford Ave. – Police were dispatched for report of a domestic dispute. The offender was taken into custody and the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of bite wounds.
