Police activity week of 04-07-14 through 04-13-14

04-07-14 13:07 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Counterfeiting-using
Unit block W. Baltimore Ave. – Dispatched to Bottom Dollar Food Store to see the manager in reference to counterfeit money. The store employee reported that while preparing a cash deposit of revenue collected, she discovered a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. The bill was accepted, counted and stored with all other U.S. currency collected on 4-6-14. She has no idea which cashier or what time of day the bill was passed.

04-08-1409:48 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – All other vandalism
E. Stewart & N. Lansdowne Aves. – Received a report of graffiti in the area. Once out, on the north east corner of the intersection on the traffic signal control box a spray painted symbol of some sort was located.

04-08-14 12:20 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Theft-under $50 from auto
200 block N. Maple Ave. – The victim stated his 2014 parking permit was taken off his vehicle.

04-08-1420:53 hours – Ptl. J. McGowan – Theft- $50 to $200- all other
Unit block S. Lansdowne Ave. – The victim reports that a package he had ordered from Amazon.com and delivered by UPS was removed from the common area of his apartment building. Loss on missing items is $82.76.

04-10-14 12:18 hours – Sgt. B. Eidell-Burglary – forced -residence- day
300 block Barker Ave. – Received an alarm activation for a residence, upon arrival discovered a broken pane of glass on the rear door. The door was closed but unlocked. No one found in the house. We did set off a loud audible alarm as soon as we made entry, so the alarm may have scared off whoever broke the glass and unlocked the door. The resident reports nothing missing from the home.

04-11-1409:32 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Theft- under $50 from auto
200 block W. Plumstead Ave. – The victim reported that sometime overnight her vehicle, which was parked on the street in front of her house, had been entered and gone through. The driver’s door was not locked. Nothing of value, other than her vehicle registration was missing.

04-11-14 10:22 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Fraud
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – LPD was called to PNC bank for a report of a subject attempting to pass a fraudulent check. The offender was detained and returned to police headquarters. The offender was placed under arrest for Fraud and related offenses.

04-12-1401:13 hours – Ptl. C. Brown – Driving under the influence
Owen & Bryn Mawr Ave. – Pursuant to a traffic stop, driver was arrested for DUI. The vehicle was towed because of the arrest and that the registration was suspended.

04-12-14 10:30 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Theft- $50 to $200 from auto
100 block Bryn Mawr Ave. – The victim reports a theft to her vehicle. Missing from the vehicle was a Garmin GPS. The vehicle was not locked.

04-12-1409:08 hours – Ptl. P. Young – Theft $50 to $200 from auto
100 block Glentay Ave. – Police responded for report of a theft from vehicle. The victim stated he found the contents of the glove box of his vehicle all over the passenger seat and his Garmin GPS missing this morning. The vehicle was unlocked.

04-12-14 12:03 hours – Ptl. P. Young – Theft – $200 & over from auto
100 block W. Albemarle Ave. – The victim stated that he came out of his apartment to find the two passenger doors were not latched and were unsecured. The contents of the glove box were thrown onto the passenger seat. Several items were missing from the vehicle totaling approximately $1,500.00.

04-13-14 15:00 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Assault-knife or cutting instrument
300 block N. Wycombe Ave. – Dispatched for a domestic assault involving sisters and possibly involving a knife. There was a dispute over a pillow and the sister’s became involved in a physical altercation. One will be taken into custody after an evaluation at the hospital.
