Police activity week of 11-15-10 through 11-21-10

11-15-10 1218 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Disorderly conduct
100 block Green Ave. (PWHS) – Received a call for two in custody in PWHS attendance office. Once out the complainant reported that the two offenders were serving in school suspension when they started arguing then fighting. School security officers responded and broke up the fight. Both offenders sustained cuts during the fight and both were treated by the school nurse. The complainant contacted the police and requested the offenders be issued disorderly conduct citations for fighting on school property. The offenders were returned to police headquarters cited and released to their adult guardians.


11-16-10 23:48 hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Disorderly conduct
Baltimore & Lansdowne Aves. – While traveling west on Baltimore Avenue, policed observed a gray Saturn with a mutilated registration plate. A check of the tag found that the vehicle was reported stolen. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Lansdowne and Baltimore Avenues. The defendant was ordered out of the vehicle and was handcuffed behind the back. In the defendant’s right front pants pocket, he was found to have a small amount of marijuana and a package of rolling papers.

Police contacted the vehicle owner who stated that she had recovered the vehicle days ago and had given the man, who is her boyfriend, permission to use the vehicle. The defendant will be cited for disorderly conduct and released at the scene.


11-17-10 13:13 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Burglary-forced entry- residence-unknown time
200 block N. Lansdowne Ave. – On arrival contact was made with the Production Manager with Mellon Certified Restoration. The manager reported that approximately 60-70 feet of ½ inch copper piping was stolen from the basement of the listed residence. The manager is currently on location with Mellon restoring the residence, which is uninhabitable due to a house fire on 3-14-10. The manager further reported that workers from Mellon were on location on 11-9-10 and did not report anything suspicious or any signs of forced entry to him. The manager arrived at the residence on 11-11-10 and discovered the window to the basement door had been broken out and the door was ajar. He did not notice anything missing from the residence on 11-11-10 and made repairs and added a new lock to the basement door. On today’s date an electrician on location at the residence reported the missing copper. Police were immediately called.

While on location a neighbor reported several suspicious activities around the residence since the house fire. The neighbor reported that he occasionally observed what he believes to be suspicious person walking around the residence. He stated that he does not call the police because he is not sure if the people around the residence are contractors. The neighbor was advised to call police immediately if he observes anything suspicious in the future.


11-17-10 18:37 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott -Theft-under $50-retail theft
Unit block E. Baltimore Ave. (Rite Aid) – A juvenile offender was placed into custody for retail theft and transported to police headquarters. While in custody the juvenile offender provided this officer with a false name and address. The juvenile offender’s correct information was later verified through her father. The juvenile offender we processed and a juvenile petition will be filed with appropriate charges. The juvenile was released to her mother.


11-18-10 08:55 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Disorderly conduct
100 block Green Ave. (PWHS) – Police responded to PWHS for report of two students fighting. Both offenders were placed under arrest and handcuffed then transported to police headquarters. Both offenders were issued citations for disorderly conduct.


11-19-10 08:00 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Disorderly conduct
100 block Green Ave. (PWHS) – Police dispatched for PWHS for two girls fighting. Both girls were engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. Both girls were cited for disorderly conduct and received a 5 day suspension.


11-19-10 09:30 hours – Ptl. C. Craig – Disorderly conduct
100 block Green Ave. (PWHS) – Responded to PWHS for a report of 2 male juveniles being detained in the principal’s office. Two male juveniles were observed fighting in the hallway. Both males were taken into the officer where their parents or guardian were notified. Citations were issued at the scene and the males were turned over to the parent or guardian.


11-19-10 12:14 hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Disorderly conduct
100 Block Green Ave (PWHS) – Police dispatched to PWHS for an intoxicated student. On arrival Principal Brunner stated a Gatorade bottle containing an alcoholic beverage was found in the possession of a student. The offender was observed with glassy blood shot eyes, an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, slurred speech and unable to complete a full thought. The offender was cited and remained in the custody of the school.


11-20-10 00:04 – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Curfew law-juvenile-female
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – While on patrol this officer observed a vehicle traveling north on Lansdowne Avenue that had been reported to be involved in a carjacking in Yeadon. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver was taken to the Yeadon Police Department for questioning. The passenger, 14 years old, was transported to Lansdowne police headquarters and her mother was contacted. Her mother signed a curfew acknowledgement form and the juvenile was release to her mother’s custody.


11-20-10 22:34 hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Liquor law-underage-purchase-consumption-possession
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – Received a report for an intoxicated female outside of Wawa store. This officer observed the offender lying on her back covered in vomit. The offender was semi-conscious and unable to stand under her own power. The offender stated to this officer “I drank too much tonight”. The medics transported the offender to the hospital for further evaluation. The offender’s mother was contacted via phone by the medics and advised of the situation. The offender will be cited for underage drinking.
