Police activity week of 01-11-10 through 01-17-10

01-11-10 19:34 Hours – Ptl. C. Schiazza – Loitering/Prowling at night
Unit block Elberon Ave. -Victim states she observed a brown skinned black male looking in her window. She banged on the window and told the actor to get out of here, in doing this she broke window and cut her hand. Victim was transported to the hospital to attend to her injury. The property owner was notified and will be installing safety bards on the windows.


01-12-10 13:25 Hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Narcotics-possession
200 block N. Wycombe Ave. – Report of suspicious group in laundry room of apartment complex. Officers encountered three offenders drinking alcoholic beverages. One offender was found to have six baggies that tested positive for marijuana in his possession. All three offenders returned to police headquarters and charged appropriately. All were under the age of 21.


01-13-10 12:35 Hours – Ptl. L. Albertoli – MV Theft
E. LaCrosse Ave. – Victim states that about 11:30 hours he parked his 2006 Kia Amanti next to the Lansdowne Baptist Church. On returning he discovered his vehicle missing. The victim remembers using the lock button on the armrest to lock the car doors. Stolen vehicle was placed into NCIC. At 17:33 hours the victim reports he was contacted by an Off. Korean of the Philadelphia Police Dept, and informed that his vehicle was located in Philadelphia and that it was set on fire. The victim was advised to make arrangements to respond to Philadelphia to pick up his car.


01-13-10 12:34 Hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – MV Theft
100 block Bryn Mawr Ave. – Victim states he parked his vehicle, a white pu truck with a silver toolbox in the truck bed, in the driveway of the residence he where he was working. He left the key in the ignition and unlocked at the time of theft. Advised the victim to make a list of items in the truck/tool box. The victim’s vehicle was entered into NCIC.


01-13-10 09:50 Hours – Ptl. L. Albertoli – Theft-attempted-from auto
200 block N. highland Ave. – Victim states unknown actor entered his unlocked vehicle and riffled his glove box. Nothing known missing at this time.


01-14-10 21:43 Hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Theft- $200 & over from auto
100 block E. Baltimore Ave. – Victim his vehicle was broken into, the vehicle was locked and rear driver side window was smashed. Taken from the vehicle was a dark gray Dell lap top. Another victim also had his unlocked vehicle ransacked; missing from his vehicle was jewelry.


01-13-10 22:27 Hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Theft- under $50 from auto
Unit block S. Wycombe Ave. – Unlocked vehicles of victims were riffled. Nothing known missing at this time.


01-14-10 14:45 Hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Theft $50 to $200 all other
200 block W. Baltimore Ave. – Victims states a package from Fed-Ex had been stolen from her residence. The package was a birthday gift from her father containing $60.00 worth of jewelry and a CD.


01-14-10 20:14 Hours – Sgt J. McCaughan – Disorderly conduct
100 block McKinley Ave. – Police received a report of a domestic in progress. The offender was severely intoxicated and continued to yell and scream and throw items around the apartment. The offender was taken into custody and placed in the cell for the night. He will be charged appropriately.


01-15-10 03:21 Hours – Ptl. M. Mugler – Theft-$200 & over from auto
Unit block S. Maple Ave. – Victims’ unlocked vehicle had been entered and an Apple I-pod was taken.


01-15-10 13:35 Hours – Sgt. B. Eidell – Theft-attempted from auto
Unit block Rigby Ave. – Victim states her vehicle was ransacked, nothing missing. Passenger side front door was left unlocked.


01-15-10 19:30 Hours – Ptl. C. Craig – Disorderly Conduct
200 block Congress Ave. – Report of domestic in progress between mother and son. On arrival the mother stated that her son has been out of control and was in possession of a stolen car stereo. The don was sitting on the couch yelling and screaming. The sister of the offender stated that her brother had admitted to her that he had broken into several autos. Attempted to speak to the offender who continued to yell and scream. The offender was taken into custody and will be charged with disorderly conduct. The vehicle stereo was turned over to the Detectives. On this date this officer received $57.00 in U.S. currency from Sgt. Kienzle. This money was seized from the offender as part of a suspected theft from vehicle investigation.


01-16-10 03:05 Hours – Ptl. L. Doyle – Driving Under the Influence
Powelton Ave. – While on routine patrol observed a vehicle with an inoperable front left head light. The vehicle did not display a PA inspection sticker and the registration was expired September 2009. The vehicle was stopped after entering the driveway on Powelton Avenue. The driver/offender had a suspended PA license DUI related. The Offender did fail field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The offender was placed under arrest for DUI.


01-17-10 01:14 Hours – Ptl. C. Brown – MV theft-street-residential
200 block W. Essex Ave. – The victim stated his vehicle was parked in front of his residence running and unlocked, when he exited his residence he discovered the vehicle had been stolen. Clifton Heights police recovered the victim’s vehicle abandoned after a resident noticed the car parked on the street. The stolen vehicle was involved in a hit and run and then abandoned.


01-17-10 23:56 Hours – Sgt. K. Kienzle – Driving under the influence
Owen Ave. – Police responded to a call for shots fired, two shots heard. A second call reported that a vehicle with heavy front end damage was sitting unoccupied in the middle of Owen Avenue. On arrival the vehicle had been involved in an accident on Lansdowne Avenue and, while attempting to flee the scene of that accident collided with a van parked on E. Greenwood Avenue. The vehicle then attempted to flee the second accident but could only travel a short distance because of severe damage. The driver/offender then exited the vehicle and fled the scene. The offender was located at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. The offender was read his implied consent form and agreed to have a sample of his blood taken. The offender will be charged with DUI, accidents involving damage to attended vehicle and other charges. Police from Yeadon, Clifton Heights, Folcroft and Colwyn assisted with this incident. There was no evidence that a gun was fired during this incident.
