Police activity week of 12-28-09 through 01-03-10

12-28-09 19:50 Hours – Ptl. C. Craig – theft- under $50 all other
100 block McKinley Ave. – Police responded for a theft of services from a taxi cab driver. The victim states he once he got to the address the female passenger got out of the cab didn’t say a word when asked for the fare and she continued to walk away into the address. Police did locate the female and arrested her for theft of services and public drunkenness. The offenders roommate did responded to police headquarters to take offender home.

12-30-09 00:06 Hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Burglary-forced entry-residence-unknown time
100 block S. Lansdowne Ave. – The victim reported that she left her apartment for the Christmas holiday on 12-23-09. Upon returning on 12-29-09 she found her air conditioner had been removed from the living room window and her apartment had been entered and gone through. The window in question is on a 3rd floor balcony that is only accessible from the victim’s apartment and an adjoining apartment. At the time of this report the victim is only aware of $700.00 in cash missing.

12-30-09 16:39 Hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Disorderly conduct
Unit block E. Baltimore Ave. – police responded to Rite Aid for shoplifter in custody. Store observed the offender conceal store merchandise. Offender did have store items in her front waist band. The juvenile offender was placed into police custody, returned to headquarters and cited. The offender was released to her mother.

12-20-09 18:24 Hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Robbery-strong arm-highway
100 block E. Plumstead Ave. – Victim states he was assaulted and robbed by three people outside of the Pantry One store. The victim is familiar with his assailants. Investigation to continue.

12-31-09 08:37 Hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Burglary-forced entry-nonresidence-night
100 block e. Baltimore Ave. – Police dispatched to Treen & Byrne auto for burglary discovered. This officer made contact with the victim who stated when he arrived at work he discovered the office window screen was ripped and the glass window broken. Victim stated nothing was missing, but the meter which powered the business was found ripped off the box and thrown on the ground.

12-31-09 16:53 Hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Narcotics-possession
Unit block Windermere Ave. – Responded for report of two unwanted subjects smoking crack cocaine. This officer made contact with the resident of the apartment. The contact pointed to the defendant and stated she was smoking crack in his apartment. The offender was taken into custody along with another offender, also smoking crack. Both offenders transported to headquarters and will be charged appropriately.

12-31-09 19:05 Hours – Ptl. L. Doyle – Theft-under $50-from auto
300 block Barker Ave. – Victim stated her locked vehicle was ransacked and CD’s and a bottle of Fabreze was taken. Three of the reported missing CD’s were found in the neighbor’s driveway.

01-01-09 03:11 Hours – Ptl. L. Doyle – Disorderly Conduct
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – While this officer was on a car stop on the Wawa parking lot the offender interrupted the car stop and told this officer to give him a ride home. This officer advised the offender to stand back. The offender continued to be unruly and cursing. The offender had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and his speech was slurred. The offender was taken into custody and will be appropriately charged.

01-01-09 13:03 Hours – Ptl. K. Kienzle – Criminal Mischief to automobiles
100 block E. Essex Ave. – On arrival the contact stated that sometime overnight, unknown actor/s caused damage to his wife’s vehicles in rear of the property. Damage to black Chevrolet 1550 pickup, scrape down right side across hood and dew the left side of the vehicle, hood also dented. The actor cracked the windshield, shattered the glass on the left side front, and then smashed out the window on the left side rear. The second vehicle, blue Oldsmobile 88 had ride side rear tire slashed, the right side rear window shattered and the paint on the right side of the vehicle was carved. Victim had no idea who would have done this. Nothing taken from either vehicle.

01-01-09 14:57 Hours – Ptl. C. Brown – theft-$200 & over from auto
Unit block E. Baltimore Ave. – The victim stated that she parked her vehicle in the parking ot of Rite Aid at approximately 14:36 hours and entered the store, when she exited the store at 14:47 hours, she discovered that known person had shattered the right front passenger side window and removed her pocketbook that was under a jacket. The advised the victim to cancel any credit cards that were in her pocketbook and notify her bank.

01-03-09 02:50 Hours – Ptl. C. Craig – Disorderly conduct
Unit block W. Baltimore Ave. – Responded to an alarm call at Nova Care while on site checking the building Officer J. Jean, Darby PD arrived and advised this officer he had noticed an occupied vehicle parked in the rear alley. Officer Jean states that when he approached the vehicle, he was able to smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The two offenders were removed from the vehicle. Both subjects did admit to smoking marijuana, both were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Both will be charged appropriately.

01-03-09 02:26 Hours – Ptl. L. Doyle – Disorderly Conduct
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – This officer was working traffic detail at Baltimore & Lansdowne Aves. This officer observed a Gray Mercury travel through a steady red signal. The vehicle was stopped and offender will be cited for several PA motor vehicle violations. This officer advised the offender his vehicle was to be towed.
