Police activity week of 11-23-09 through 11-29-09

11-23-09 15:07 Hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Criminal mischief to vehicles
200 block Shadeland Ave. – Victim states sometime overnight unknown person put a small dent in the rear quarter panel of the driver’s side of his vehicle.

11-24-09 11:32 Hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – Burglary-no force-nonresidence
Unit block S. Lansdowne Ave. – Owner of Mane Attraction Hair Design reports unknown person entered her store and removed approximately $80 cash. The store had been locked and closed for the evening.
Nothing else missing at this time.

11-24-09 14:20 Hours – Ptl. K. McDermott – Theft-attempted from buildings
Unit block N. Lansdowne Ave. – This officer was contacted by Chief Kortan via radio and instructed to report to the rear of the Lansdowne Movie theater for a theft report. On arrival met both the victim and witness. The witness stated he observed what appeared to be a Hispanic male, who appeared to have acne, in his mid twenties attempting to steal the aluminum gutter for the rear of the building. The witness stated the actor fled. The witness then called the victim who in turn called the Chief of Police to report the theft. There was approximately 20 minute time lapse between the attempted theft and police response. The witness stated he would not be able to identify the actor. For future reference all parties were advised to call 911 if they observe a crime in progress.

11-24-09 12:20 Hours – Ptl. T. Selimis – theft-$200 & Over
100 block E. Stewart Ave. – The victim’s report items missing from their residence. They suspect an acquaintance that frequents the residence. Total amount of missing items approximately $1355.

11-24-09 20:34 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Theft-attempted from building
Unit block S. Wycombe Ave. – Report of an attempted theft from apartment building. Witnesses stated that they observed two actors taking a refrigerator from the building, the one witness yelled at the actors and they dropped the item and fled. Spoke with the building owner, who had several items stored in the apartment house hallways while renovating the building. Advised the owner to secure the items in a locked apartment for safety.

11-25-09 02:19 Hours – Assault- simple
N. Wycombe Ave. – While on patrol observed a male fitting the description of an actor in a home invasion in Upper Darby. The person of interest was with another male and a female. Upper Darby police responded and were able to determine that the person was not involved in their incident. While speaking with the female actor she appeared to be under the influence as she was unable to stand without assistance. The female actor repeatedly gave this officer false information and was placed into custody. The female actor did kick officer Schiazza while being placed into handcuffs. The actor was transported to police headquarters and will be charged accordingly. Philadelphia Police notified as there were warrants out of Philadelphia for the actor.

11-25-09 11:30 hours – Ptl. M. McGinnis – Theft-$200 & over from auto
N. Union Ave. – Victim reports she parked her unlocked 2008 Chrysler Aspen on N. Union Avenue in front of the vacuum store and went inside for less than five minutes. Upon returned home she realized her purse was missing. The victim believes the purse was removed from her vehicle while it was parked and unattended.

11-29-09 20:28 Hours – Ptl. L. Albertoli – Disorderly conduct
E. Plumstead Ave. – Report of suspicious white male with dark curly hair carrying a rake. The male was reportedly knocking on doors asking to rake leaves and looked “high as a kite”. Stopped the offender and noticed he was visibly under the influence; the offender was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
