Police activity week of 12-08-08 through 12-14-08

12-08-08 08:00 hours Ptl. D. Schiazza – Burglary-No Force-Residence-Day
Unit Blk of Nyack Ave. Victim returned home to her apartment she discovered she had been burglarized.
She states she locked both door locks yet when she returned home the top lock was unlocked. No sign of forced entry. Missing from the apartment were Black IBL laptop notebook computer ($500), RCN modem ($50), various costume jewelry as missing.


12-08-08 22:00 hours Ptl T. Selimis – Drugs, Sale/Mfg
100 Blk E. Essex Ave – Off. Selimis was in area of 200 Blk of Hansell Avenue when she observed a suspicious black male standing looking around in the middle of the alley way in rear of 142 E. Essex Avenue. Officer Selimis then drove to the 200 Blk of Wabash and observed the offender walking with a staggered gait towards the officers patrol vehicle. While talking to the suspect he dropped a marijuana cigarette. A search of his person revealed white chunky powdery substance, green leafy vegetable matter and a total of $413.00 in cash. Offender was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was charged and taken to Darby Borough where he was processed.


12-09-08 08:11 hours Ptl. D. Schiazza -Assault-hands, fists, feet
100 Blk Green Ave. (PWHS) – Responded to PWHS for a report of an assault on security staff. Upon arrival learned the juvenile defendant caused a disturbance in the cafeteria, then threatened to assault the security guard he then became disruptive and a violent struggled ensued in the Vice Principals office. While the defendant was being escorted from the school he was yelling obscenities and threats. The juvenile was arrested, transported to police headquarters processed and transported to Juvenile Detention.


12-10-08 09:44 hours Ptl. K. Kienzle – Robbery-Attempt-Strong Arm-Highway
100 Blk Berkley Ave. – Victim came to Lansdowne Police Headquarters to report that she had been attacked at the rear of her apartment building on Monday December 8, 2008 between 8PM and 9PM. She stated unknown actor punched her in the face twice and dumped out hour bags but did not take anything. The victim stated her boyfriend transported her to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital after the attack.

She stated she did not come forward sooner because she did not want to be put on the news and she did not want to be a nuisance. She also did not know what police department covered the area, she went to Upper Darby Police and then a different department before finally discovering the crime occurred in Lansdowne. Investigation to continue.


12-11-08 21:03 hours Sgt. B. Eidell – Sex Offense-Indecent Exposure
Unit Blk S. Rigby Ave. – Received a call to see the pizza delivery man in front of home on S. Rigby Ave in reference to an indecent act that occurred at that location. On arrival victim stated he had just delivered food to the home on S. Rigby. The food was accepted and paid for by a young black male. The victim was sitting in his vehicle when the same black male stepped out onto the open front porch with his pants down around his ankles and his penis exposed and holding his shirt up exposing his abdominal area. The victim called the police. This officer spoke with the parents of the juvenile suspect and the juveniles’ story did not make sense and this officer felt he was not being entirely truthful. Victim was adamant that this was an intentional act and he wanted the offender charged accordingly. Writer will prepare a juvenile allegation of delinquency and submit for approval.


12-12-08 17:37 hours Sgt. J. Eisenhart – Theft-$50-$200 Auto parts & accessories
Unit Blk Nyack Ave. – Complainant noticed that the vehicle registration plate on his mother-in law’s 2000 Ford Focus parked in rear of unit block of Nyack Ave. was missing. This officer did have the registration tag entered into NCIC as stolen.


12-14-08 13:39 hours Sgt. J. Eisenhart – All other offenses-false police report
E. Greenwood & N. Wycombe Aves – this officer while on vehicle stop for inoperable break lights asked the driver identified himself with an age of 23 years. The operator appeared much older then he stated.

Operator then informed the officer he was forty three years old. Police did transport suspect to Darby Borough for live scan to determine his actually identity. Charges of false identification to law enforcement were placed against this defendant. Defendant was confirmed to be operating on a suspended PA license.
