Police activity week of 10/20/08 through 10/26/08
10-20-08 14:40 hours – Sgt. B. Eidell – Theft under $50.00 from buildings
Unit Blk of Nyack Ave. – Victim called to report the apparent theft of a birthday card from his mailbox by the front entrance of his apartment building. Victim’s sister sent a card with $20.00 cash inside. Victim states after several days he did not receive the card and states he has had mail taken before.
10-20-08 21:09 – Ptl. K. Kienzle – Theft- Attempted all others
W. Plumstead @ N. Lansdowne Ave. – Police responded to theft in progress. Anonymous complainant stated two males had climbed a telephone pole to steal electricity. Two males were located at PECO pole #538. Offenders gave several different stories as to why they were in the area and why they had specific tools in their possession.
Investigation to continue with PECO & Comcast.
10-21-08 13:30 hours – Ptl. C. Craig – Fraud
Unit Blk S. Lansdowne Ave. – Report of fraud committed against Family Dental Care Center. Three checks totaling $13,935.37 were written out and cashed at several banks in New Jersey. Eagle Bank did flag these checks and they were not paid. This report was filed at request of the Eagle Bank. Investigation to continue by bank fraud department.
10-22-08 18:30 hours – Sgt. J. Eisenhart – theft under $50 from auto
100 Blk of N. Highland Ave. – Unlocked locked vehicle riffled, approximately $2.00 in change taken. Victim states this may have happened sometime Saturday night.
10-22-08 15:43 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Assault- Hands, Fists, Feet
200 Blk Congress Ave. – Juvenile victim assault while riding his bike home from school. Victim was punched by actor. Actor was with a group of three or four black male teenage juveniles. After checking area advised victim to call police if he observed the actor. Victim refused medical treatment. Victims’ father advised of incident.
10-22-08 15:00 hours – Sgt. J. Eisenhart – Theft $50 to $200 from auto
300 Blk Wabash Ave. – Victim states unknown actor did siphon almost three quarters of a tank of gas from his Ford Explorer. Incident happened sometime overnight.
10-23-08 14:45 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Disorderly Conduct
100 Blk Green Ave. (PWHS) While officers were at PWHS for dismissal we received a complaint from Vice Principal Cifuni that there was a student who assaulted a teacher. Spoke with victim who stated a student had pushed him. Offender was placed under arrest and returned to police headquarters.
Offender was cited for disorderly conduct.
10-23-08 16:15 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Theft under $50. – all other
100 Blk W. Stratford Ave. – Victim reports her white recyclables bin stolen from front of her home. There are no witnesses or suspect to this theft.
10/25/08 10:28 hours – Ptl. K. Kienzle – Robbery-Attempt-Strong Arm-Misc
Unit Blk W. LaCrosse – Attempted robbery of a Pizza delivery person by four males. Delivery person was punched; the actors did not get any money. Victim ran to rear of building to escape. Actors left area.
10/26/08 01:02 hours – Ptl. C. Schiazza – Trespassing of Real Property
Unit Blk of S. Wycombe – Defendant located screaming & yelling in hallway of apartment building. Defendant was advised to leave the building and not return. While police were still on location defendant again was found in building and he was placed under arrest. This offense is domestic related.
10-23-08 13:49 hours – Sgt. J. Eisenhart – Theft $50 to $200 from building
Victim noticed copper down spouts had been removed from his home. Victim is positive they were there yesterday evening before he went to bed. Down spouts missing from north and west side of home.
10-23-08 18:56 hours – Ptl. D. Schiazza – Drive under influence
Unit blk N. Lansdowne Ave – Officers responded to hit and run at intersection of N. Lansdowne Ave & Stewart Ave. Located involved vehicle with defendant unconscious sitting behind operators’ wheel. Offender failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. Offender transported to hospital.
10-23-08 21:24 hours – Sgt. J. McCaughan – Assault-Hands-Fists-Feet
E. Marshall Rd. – Sergeant found a tan Toyota Camry SW parked in right lane of E. Marshall Rd at N. Maple Ave. blocking roadway with hazard flashers on and was unoccupied. Upper Darby Police were on location and already attempted to contact the owner by phone but received no answer. While waiting for tow truck a white female was observed staggering up the middle of E. Marshall Rd. The subject was carrying an open two liter bottle of translucent liquid that she stated was gasoline. She was advised to step over onto the sidewalk. Defendant appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. She was administered a field sobriety test which she failed. Defendant became very boisterous and belligerent and began swinging her arms with a closed fist at the officers. Police attempted to handcuff defendant and she continued to resist arrest. Defendant finally cuffed and placed in patrol vehicle. Defendant was arrested for assault and placed in cell until arraignment in the morning.
